Celebration of Life!

Today, Rob and I were honored take part in a special celebration in Emily's class called "The Celebration of Life!"  Ms. Justice sent me a letter and story template on Monday with a request to complete it and send photos of Emily from birth through age 6.  The story is below along with a photo of her from each of her birthdays leading up to age 7.

We had lunch with Emily and her friend, Joel, on the stage and then joined the children in their classroom.  When we arrived, Ms. Justice had all of the children form a circle around Emily.  Rob read the story of her life while Ms. Justice walked around showing the children the photo of Emily at that corresponding age.  Before beginning the narrative of a new year, Emily made a circle while the children sang "The Earth Goes Round the Sun, the Earth Goes Round the Sun, and and now she is 1 or  2 or 3 (depending on the year)".  After the ceremony was complete, Emily was asked a few questions about what she likes at age seven and then the children all sang "Happy Birthday!"  Following the singing, Emily passed out napkins and cookies for her classmates!  What a lovely little treat and great way to spend the afternoon before going to get her flu vaccine and some birthday goodies at Target with the $ she has received so far as presents!
