1) Mother's Day - She was so excited about the card and gift that she made for me at school. It was in her backpack on Friday and she insisted that I not look in her bag until she had an opportunity to carry some things upstairs and hide them! She spent the night at Grandma and Papa's on Saturday so she had to sneak them out of the house to take with her and then on Sunday, she was anxiously awaiting our arrival so she could finally give them to me! Adorable...the "O" in LOVE is her handprint and the V is her footprints. The little bag was titled "Breakfast in Bed" complete with poem and a picture of me and it contained a juice box, a breakfast bar and an apple. She was extremely concerned that the apple would no longer be any good by the time we finally showed up at Grandmas's around 10 a.m. because we were SO LATE! As a side note, she told her Daddy not to worry about buying me a card or a gift because she "had it covered" and he took it to heart...Father's Day is right around the corner :)
2) She's been a really good helper this week. On Monday, she helped her Daddy prepare some delicious hamburgers on the grill and even attempted to eat one of them! She ate about two bites but that is a step in the right direction. On Wednesday, she excitedly asked if she could mop the hardwood floors. Is it humanly possible to tell a child that they are not allowed to clean? Not for this Mommy!
3) After last week's plant debacle, I purchased some soil, pots and seeds so she could attempt to grow some plants at home. Rob helped her get everything planted on Friday and by Monday, she already saw a little sprout in the radish pot, by Thursday, there were sprouts in all of the pots. My only fear is that all of the birds that seem to be taking over our yard will help themselves to some food. We'll see!
4) Speaking of birds, her fears seem to be subsiding somewhat. She went digging up on "the mountain" one evening this week and was only slightly concerned with the birds in the birdhouse. Baby steps! She has been taking bread and feeding the bunnies and birds too!
UPDATE ON THE FRONT DOOR BIRD NEST!
I received this in an email from Rob this morning: "Checked nest on door this am and we have 1-2 day old fuzzy headed babies in the nest. Told Em and she wanted to see. She made me carry her as she was a little afraid, but was excited when she saw the chicks. She talked about them the whole way to school."
5) Another great week at soccer - she scored three of the five goals for her team! Her current Coach has made a recommendation for which team/coach she should play with next season and has been super impressed with her skills. This is saying a lot because he has been playing soccer for as long as he can remember, continues to play on an adult team and he's from England for goodness sake!
All in all, a much better week this week than last! No major issues other than a bug that flew into Em's eye on Thursday. High drama but 100% of it was on my part. I do not function well in high pressure situations! I guess that is why Emily shared some information with Rob concerning another loose tooth but told him not to tell me! She knows that I am a crazy person!
