5 on Friday!

1)  It’s been a couple of weeks since Emily has brought home any graded assignments but when she did on Monday, we were all very proud!  She earned a 96% on her “Me on the Map” social studies test, several Bs in math and seems to be doing pretty well with her word study quizzes too!  One sheet in her data binder detailed out her reading on the Accelerated Reading program.  We were happy to see that she is on a 2.2 level (second grade, second month).  There is still work to be done but we started reading a chapter book this week and she has tacked a chapter+ every night and seems excited about it so maybe things are on an upswing!

2)  Adding to my overall “slacking” is not really preparing for Em’s birthday this year.  Time has gotten away from me and everything has been totally last minute including inviting friends, creating a theme or anything!  This year’s invites consisted of email and FB messages and thankfully Emily came up with her own Minecraft theme and I was able to find some free printables and get some ideas from Pinterest.  I am usually so much better organized…I’m a little embarrassed.

Emily was quite impressed with the sprite
bottle idea!

She is certainly ready to turn 8!

3)  Our Alzheimer’s fundraising efforts concluded for 2014 last weekend at the Walk in Rock Hill.  When it was all said and done, Emily secured the number 5 spot and raised $1,190!

4)  For some reason lately, we all have been driving each other a little crazier than normal.  So many mornings in our house seem to be starting off with tears.  There is nothing worse than feeling like we’re all leaving the house to start our days off in a huff.  I have never been a morning person and have always appreciated the fact that Rob typically handles the morning routine but some days, I bet he would be willing to trade off!  Some afternoons and evenings are not much better...see proof below!

5)  She will be happy to know that the specific bike she wished for will be delivered to our house later today!  And to think, Christmas will be here before we know it…what’s next a new car?

Bonus - She switched backpacks this week and loves carrying this one strap bag to school!
